Climate-Friendly Garden Tour
The Napa County Seed Library is featured among 11 private gardens in the 2023 Climate-Smart Garden Tour! Come visit our three outdoor seed library annexes and tour their adjoining climate-friendly gardens on Saturday, May 13th from 10 am to 4 pm. We’ll also be featuring a mini-lecture given by Gian Nelson of Jano Spirits about Agave americana, an emerging climate-wise and drought tolerant crop, which is becoming important to our local agroeconomy. We’ll have agave seedlings to give away to start your journey on creating a garden with features and plants well-suited to our changing local climate.
During this open-house style tour, you’ll be able to view and learn about all 11 private and public gardens in and around Napa & Yountville that showcase beautiful and vibrant landscapes that are climate-friendly and water-wise with features such as:
drought-tolerant and native plants
compost and soil health practices
rain gardens, rain barrels, and/or other rain catchment systems
recycled material use
a smart irrigation system
veggie gardens
greywater use
The Climate-Friendly Garden Tour is a partnership between the City of Napa Water Division, Napa RCD, UC Master Gardeners, the Napa County Seed Library, and the Town of Yountville.
